Buleleng Festival is a cultural activity featuring a combination of art, culture, education and social environment that brings Buleleng towards a preservation, creation, innovation and promote Buleleng (Singaraja) to the world. this event also well-known as “Bulfest” is an activity that has become an annual event of Buleleng Government. Bulfest in this year is the second Bulfest which will be held on August 6 to August 10, 2014 in “Earth of Panji Sakti” Singaraja City. The First Bulfest was held on August 23 – August 25, 2013 for 3 days, but Buleleng Festival 2014 will be held in 5 days depend the activities that will be presented in this annual event. The theme of BulFest 2014 is “Dynamics of Buleleng”. This activity aims to stimulate the creativity of local society, especially the younger generation to create new things related the local art and culture of Bali, the creative economy, developing and exploring the local culture potency of Buleleng Regency.
Many original products of Buleleng cultural and arts, such as classical dances and new creations that have not been well documented that the arts are not recognized by the younger generation. Because of that, The future efforts should be encouraged to document the cultural-art products with a number of programs. For example, in the first event of Buleleng Festival was published a book of dances created by artists of Buleleng. Dances were collected as dance creations of the 1920’s until 2010’s.
Bulfest 2013 already present mass “Truna Jaya” Dance as an icon, then the icon will be displayed in different way in Bulfest 2014. New record seems to be solved at the opening of Buleleng Festival 2014, August 6 . Fishermen creation dance (Nelayan dance) created by I Ketut Merdana Kedis from the village, Busungbiu district, will be danced by at least a thousand dancers. In addition to the mass dance, new things that will held at the first time in Buleleng Regency, that is Buleleng Endek Carnival 2014 (BEC 2014) will present the design of clothing from fashion designers who are well known in Bali, such as Dwi Iskandar and Weda Githapradana which is planned will takes “Sea World” theme.
